Galloper Handsfree Microphone Failure

Hey, I'm having a weird problem with my 2000 Hyundai Galloper with a gasoline engine. The hands-free microphone just stopped working! Now telephony is no longer possible. I checked the error memory and there is an error stored, but I have no clue what it means. Has anyone else had this issue? Volume control and audio input seem fine, but no voice recognition. Could it be a wireless connection issue?

Summary of the thread

The issue with the 2000 Hyundai Galloper's hands-free microphone not working was likely due to a fault within the infotainment system, as indicated by a stored error code. Possible causes included a hardware failure or a blown fuse. Suggested solutions involved checking the fuse and considering a software update. Ultimately, the problem was resolved by replacing the defective infotainment system at a workshop.

Greetings. The symptoms you describe, coupled with the stored error, strongly suggest a fault within the infotainment system itself. The hands-free microphone is integrated into the infotainment system's audio processing unit. When it stops working completely alongside a stored error code it is often a hardware failure inside this unit. Have you checked the fuse for the infotainment system? A blown fuse is a very common cause. Also, if the fuse is OK, perhaps there has been a software revision for the unit that you have not performed?

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly do I find the fuse for the infotainment system? And how do I check for software revisions? I'm not very tech-savvy, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

The fuse location will be detailed in your owner's manual, usually located within the dashboard fuse box or the engine compartment fuse box. As for software revisions, these are typically performed by a qualified technician using specialized diagnostic equipment. Given the potential complexity and the specialized tools required, I strongly recommend consulting with a certified workshop for a professional diagnosis and repair. Continuing without proper knowledge may further damage the system.

Thanks so much for your help! I took it to the workshop as you suggested. Turns out the entire infotainment system was defective. Cost me 815€ to replace, but at least the hands-free is working again!
