Galloper Start Stop Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Hyundai Galloper with a gasoline engine is experiencing issues with its start-stop system, leading to intermittent engine shutdowns and a warning light. The problem might be related to the battery, as the start-stop system is sensitive to voltage fluctuations. A new battery could potentially resolve the issue, but consulting a mechanic for a thorough check is recommended to rule out other causes.

Thanks! Yes, the engine does shut off unexpectedly at traffic lights, just like you said. I haven't noticed anything weird with the starter motor sound or performance, but I'll pay closer attention. Can you tell me more about how you fixed it, and if it involved the battery?

My Galloper did the same thing. I thought it was the starter motor at first, since it restarts the engine, but it turned out to be the battery. The start-stop system seems really sensitive to voltage. A new battery might help for a bit, but I'd talk to a mechanic to get it checked out properly. It could be more than just the battery.

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to book an appointment with a workshop for a checkup. Looks like it'll be about 290€ for a new battery and labor. I appreciate the help.

Ah, the Galloper and its quirks! I had a similar experience with mine some time ago. The start-stop system, or 'Eco mode' as some call it, became quite temperamental. Does the engine shut off unexpectedly at traffic lights, or is it more random? And have you noticed any issues with the starter motor itself, perhaps a slight hesitation or unusual sound during automatic restart? It's like the system gets amnesia and forgets it's supposed to restart!
