Genesis Coding Error

I'm officially pulling my hair out. I've got a 2015 Hyundai Genesis with a gasoline engine, only 40050 km on the clock, and I'm getting fault codes. The engine light is on, I’ve got error messages popping up, and the speedometer is throwing warnings. I scanned it and it's definitely throwing some codes. I'm thinking it might be a coding issue, like something got messed up in the software. Anyone else run into this?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Hyundai Genesis owner is experiencing persistent fault codes, engine light warnings, and speedometer issues, suspecting a coding error in the vehicle's software. Despite clearing the codes, they reappear, suggesting a deeper issue. A workshop visit confirms incorrect vehicle coding as the cause, which is resolved through professional recoding, restoring the car to normal functionality.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds frustrating! I've got a Genesis too, though not sure of the year, and I had something similar happen a while back. Kept getting random errors and the engine light. Did you try clearing the codes to see if they come back? Also, which fault codes are you seeing?

Yeah, I cleared the codes, but they came right back after a few minutes. The scan tool is showing a coding error, which is why I think the whole car is having a meltdown. It's almost as if the car thinks it's another car.

Ah, a coding error... that's beyond my limited skills, haha. When mine was doing weird stuff, it wasn't a coding problem. If the codes keep returning even after clearing them, I'd strongly suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll have the proper diagnostics to really dig into the coding side of things. Don't want to mess something up even worse!

I appreciate the insight. Looks like a workshop visit is definitely in order. I took your advice and brought it in, and you were spot on – incorrect vehicle coding was the culprit, and the repair set me back 360€. They recoded it, and everything's back to normal now.
