Genesis oil pressure warning
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Hyundai Genesis owner experienced an oil pressure warning light, potentially due to exceeding the maintenance interval. The issue was suspected to be caused by oil contamination, possibly from bad oil additives or a faulty oil filter. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the engine oil was contaminated, and the problem was resolved by changing the oil and filter.

That's an interesting point. No strange noises or power loss that I've noticed. Contamination, you say? Could bad oil additives or a faulty oil filter be the culprit?

Yeah, with my Peugeot, it turned out to be oil contamination causing all sorts of grief. Honestly, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop just to be sure. Might save you a lot of trouble down the road.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a shop, and you were right, the engine oil was contaminated due to the exceeded maintenance interval. They changed the oil and filter. Cost me 165€, which is a relief compared to potential engine damage!

Hmm, sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot, a real headache. Was the engine making any strange noises, or did you notice any loss of power? I'm no expert, but could there be excessive contamination of the engine oil?
