Getz AC Control Unit Defective
Summary of the thread
The 2003 Hyundai Getz's air conditioning system was completely non-functional, with a warning light on the speedometer and an error stored in the system. The initial suspicion was a refrigerant leak, but it was suggested to check the AC control unit. Upon further inspection at a workshop, the issue was confirmed to be a defective AC control unit, which was then replaced to restore functionality.

The AC control unit, huh? Interesting. How did you figure that out? Was it just a process of elimination, or did you have some telltale signs? Did you also get the speedometer warning light with refrigerant leak?

Confirmed: it was indeed the AC control unit. I suggest you take it to a workshop to get it checked out. Replacing it can be tricky, and you don't want to mess up the whole system.

Thanks a bunch! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on – the AC control unit was defective! Cost me 980€ to get it sorted, but at least I have cold air again. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my Getz. Are you sure the compressor is getting power? Have you checked the AC control unit? In my case, that was the culprit.
