Getz automatic transmission fault
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Hyundai Getz is experiencing issues with its automatic transmission, including failure to start in Park, a check engine light, gearbox slipping, poor shifting, and an error code. The problem may be related to the transmission control unit, but a faulty transmission sensor affecting the park/neutral safety switch is also a possible cause. It is recommended to consult a mechanic to diagnose the issue accurately, as a bad control unit could lead to costly repairs.

Interesting. Can you tell me more about the sensor issue you had? Was it a simple fix, or was there more to it?

Well, the sensor was sending the wrong signals. The car didn't know it was in Park, so it wouldn't start. Replacing the sensor helped, but it might be different for your Hyundai, since you've got more symptoms and the error code. Still, you should see a good mechanic, because a bad control unit could mean expensive repairs.

Thanks for the advice. I'll tell my mechanic about your experience. I still think the control unit is the problem. I'm guessing it'll be around 1000€.

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had something similar with my old Volvo V70, though not as many problems at once. My car wouldn't start sometimes, and it turned out to be a bad transmission sensor messing with the park/neutral safety switch. It was like trying to launch a rocket ship instead of going to the store! Have you checked the sensor?
