Getz diesel engine running rich
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Hyundai Getz diesel engine is experiencing issues with running rich, leading to reduced power, rough running, increased fuel consumption, and a check engine light. The suspected cause is a defective injection valve or injector. After consulting with others, it was suggested to check the air filter and intake manifold, but the problem was ultimately diagnosed as a faulty injector, which was replaced to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the reply! I haven't checked the intake manifold yet, but I replaced the air filter recently. Could a dirty intake manifold really cause all those issues, including the check engine light and poor fuel economy?

Yeah, it's possible. In my case with the Megane, it turned out to be a faulty injector. A clogged intake manifold can mess with the air-fuel ratio, but the jerking and check engine light lean more towards fuel delivery problems. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice! Took it to the shop as you suggested, and you were right. Turns out it was indeed a defective injector. Cost me about 515€ to get it sorted, but at least it's running smoothly again.

Hey, that sounds rough! I had a similar thing happen with my old Renault Megane. Same symptoms, reduced power, rough running, the whole shebang. Did you check your air filter or the intake manifold?
