Getz diesel fuel pump issue
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Hyundai Getz diesel was experiencing starting issues, stalling, a check engine light, rough running, and increased fuel consumption, with an error code related to the fuel pump. The problem was suspected to be a faulty fuel pump, but it was advised to check the fuel pump relay and wiring first. Upon inspection by a workshop, a defective plug connection to the fuel pump was identified and replaced, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't checked the relay or wiring yet. Where exactly is the fuel pump relay located on the Getz, and what should I be looking for when I inspect the wiring?

The fuel pump relay location can vary, consult your vehicle's repair manual for the exact position. Visually inspect the wiring and connectors for any signs of corrosion, damage, or loose connections. Given the symptoms and error code, and the potential for electrical faults, I highly advise a professional diagnosis to avoid further complications. It may be a faulty connection, but the error code indicates a problem in the fuel system, and further analysis by a technician is recommended.

Thanks for the advice. I checked the wiring and didn't see anything obvious. I took it to a workshop and they found a defective plug connection to the fuel pump. They replaced the plug and wiring, and the car runs perfectly now. The repair cost was 95€ Thanks again!

The symptoms you describe – engine failing to start, stalling, check engine light, rough running, increased fuel consumption, and a stored error code related to the fuel pump – strongly suggest a fuel delivery issue. Before condemning the pump itself, have you checked the basics, such as the fuel pump relay and the wiring harness leading to the pump? A loose or corroded connection can often mimic a failing pump.
