The error code indicated a defective exhaust back pressure sensor. Is this something I can fix myself?

While it might be tempting to DIY, dealing with emission control can be tricky. With my Megane, I ended up taking it to a workshop, and it saved me a lot of hassle. They replaced the sensor; they'll be able to diagnose it properly and ensure everything is calibrated correctly afterward.

Understood. I appreciate the advice. I've booked an appointment with a mechanic. Repair cost is estimated around 245€. Thanks again.

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane, though it was a different sensor causing the smoke. Did the diagnostics give any specific error codes?
