Getz preheating lamp stays on

My 2004 Hyundai Getz diesel has an issue: the preheating lamp won't switch off. The diagnostic tool says it's the glow plugs. Has anyone had this? Worried about combustion and fuel efficiency.

Summary of the thread

A 2004 Hyundai Getz diesel has a persistent preheating lamp issue, diagnosed as faulty glow plugs. This problem can affect combustion and fuel efficiency, and also causes longer starting times. The recommended solution is to replace the glow plugs, preferably at a workshop if lacking the necessary tools or expertise. After replacement, the engine starts properly, and the preheating lamp issue is resolved.

Hey! I had a similar issue with my Getz. Preheating lamp stayed on and the engine light too. Sounds like the glow plugs, yeah. Notice any difference when starting?

Yes, starting takes longer. How did you fix it? Did you replace the glow plugs yourself, or go to a workshop?

I tried to fix it myself, but I lacked the proper tools. So, I took it to a workshop to get it sorted. They replaced all the glow plugs. I'd recommend you do the same, unless you are really confident. It can be a pain.

I took it to the workshop as you suggested, and they confirmed it was the glow plugs. The total repair cost was 440€. Now the engine starts without any issues and the light is finally off!
