Gienia crankcase ventilation valve issue

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2018 Honda Gienia gasoline engine, mileage 104278 km. The check engine light is on, engine power is reduced, and there's smoke when accelerating. Suspect crankcase ventilation valve malfunction. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Honda Gienia with 104,278 km is experiencing reduced engine power, a check engine light, and smoke during acceleration, suspected to be due to a crankcase ventilation valve malfunction. The symptoms, including bluish smoke and increased oil consumption, suggest a defective valve causing a vacuum leak. The valve is typically located near the engine's valve cover, but professional diagnosis and repair are recommended to prevent further engine damage. The issue was confirmed and resolved at a workshop.

I had similar symptoms on my Gienia. Check the crankcase ventilation valve and its surrounding hoses. A defective valve can cause a vacuum leak, leading to increased oil consumption and those emissions issues you're experiencing. The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system is designed to relieve pressure from the engine crankcase. Is the smoke bluish or blackish? That can give you more clues.

Thanks for the quick reply! The smoke is more bluish than blackish, and the oil level does seem to be dropping faster than usual. Where exactly is this valve located, and is it easy to check myself?

Given the bluish smoke and oil consumption, it does sound like the crankcase ventilation valve. The valve is usually located on top of the engine, often near the valve cover. However, I'd strongly recommend taking it to a trusted workshop. They have the tools to properly diagnose the issue and avoid further engine damage. A leak test can confirm the source.

Following your advice, I had the car checked at the workshop. Turns out the crankcase ventilation valve was indeed defective. Repair cost was 360€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
