Thanks for sharing that experience with your MiTo. Having dealt with almost identical vehicle emissions issues on my Giulietta last year, the problems and fixes sound very familiar. Vehicle diagnostics confirmed similar faults with the exhaust sensor in my case too. Has the fix held up well since then? No recurring warning lights or DPF regeneration problems? Would be great to know how much the total repair cost for your car. The parts and labor charges can vary quite a bit with these exhaust system repairs, so it would be helpful to have a rough estimate for comparison.

Thanks for asking about the follow-up. Since having the exhaust back pressure sensor replaced, my car has been running perfectly with no recurring issues. The engine performance returned to normal and vehicle emissions are now properly controlled. The repair cost totaled 245 Euro which covered both parts and labor. The exhaust sensor replacement fixed the problem completely, no more warning lights or DPF regeneration issues for over 8 months now. The emission control system is working as intended with regular regeneration cycles. Getting the faulty sensor diagnosed and replaced early was key to preventing more extensive exhaust system damage. Regular monitoring shows the new sensor provides accurate readings for proper DPF function. The investment was worth it to restore proper engine performance and avoid potential DPF failure. The mechanics completed thorough testing after the repair to confirm the back pressure readings were correct and the regeneration process was working normally. I can definitely say addressing the sensor malfunction resolved all the issues I originally experienced.

After getting that reply about the repair costs and success rate, I decided to finally get my Giulietta fixed last week. The auto repair shop performed vehicle diagnostics and found the same faulty pressure sensor causing my DPF problems. The total repair came to 280 Euro at my local specialist. Slightly more than your cost but still reasonable considering the vehicle emissions system is quite complex. The mechanic showed me the old sensor which was completely clogged with soot, explaining why the engine performance had degraded. Been driving for a week now and the fix seems solid, no more warning lights or smoke issues. The exhaust system is working perfectly and the DPF is regenerating as it should. Really glad I got this sorted before it led to bigger problems. Thanks again for helping point me in the right direction with the sensor replacement suggestion.

Had the same exhaust system issues with my 2014 Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.6 JTDm. The symptoms matched exactly, warning lights, smoke during acceleration, and failed DPF regeneration cycles. The auto repair diagnosis confirmed a defective exhaust back pressure sensor, which was preventing proper DPF monitoring. The sensor could not accurately measure the pressure difference in the exhaust system, leading to incomplete regeneration cycles. The repair involved: Complete diagnostics of the exhaust system, Replacement of the back pressure sensor, Cleaning of the DPF system, Reset of the engine management system This was a serious issue requiring immediate attention, as continued driving could have led to complete DPF failure and potential engine damage. The faulty pressure sensor meant the car could not properly monitor and manage the exhaust flow, causing excessive soot buildup. After the repair, the exhaust sensor started providing correct readings, allowing proper DPF regeneration. The warning lights cleared and the smoke issue resolved completely. Regular DPF regeneration cycles resumed as normal. Recommend getting a proper diagnostic scan focused on the exhaust system components, specifically targeting the back pressure sensor readings.
