GLA CEL and Stalling at Idle Fuel Tank Ventilation Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Mercedes GLA is experiencing a check engine light (CEL) and stalling at idle, with diagnostic codes indicating a potential fuel tank ventilation system leak. The owner suspects a defective activated charcoal filter but considers other causes like a faulty pressure sensor, leak detection pump, or a sticking purge valve. Suggestions include checking the purge valve first, as it's a common issue, and considering the charcoal canister or pressure sensor as potential causes. Ultimately, professional inspection at a workshop might be necessary to resolve the issue efficiently.

Thanks for the quick reply When you say 'similar issue', did you also experience the stalling at idle And was your check engine light also related to the fuel tank ventilation Any chance you remember the specific code you were getting Trying to avoid the stealership if I can

Yep, stalling at idle was exactly what I had Check engine light was on because of a leak in the fuel tank ventilation I don't recall the exact code, but I remember it was related to the evap system Honestly, after messing with it for a while, I just took it to a shop Saved myself a lot of hassle

Appreciate the input Sounds like I'm heading down the same road I'll try to check the purge valve, but probably will end up at a workshop Got a quote for 275€, including parts and labor to replace the charcoal filter Seems reasonable enough Thanks again

I had a similar issue with my GLA Check the purge valve first, it's a common problem If it's not that, it could be the charcoal canister The pressure sensor can also trigger the CEL, but usually that's a secondary effect of the leak
