GLA Exhaust Flap Issue

My 2023 Mercedes GLA with a gasoline engine has developed an exhaust issue. The error memory shows a fault, and the exhaust noise is louder than usual, especially with a noisy engine running after a cold start. Mileage is at 19147 km. I suspect a defective flap motor in the exhaust system. Has anyone else seen this?

Sounds like those exhaust components are giving you grief! Is the sound consistently louder, or does it vary with engine speed? It's like a dimmer switch stuck on high. Have you noticed any change to your engine performance?

The sound is consistently louder, regardless of engine speed. Engine performance seems normal. Could it really just be the flap motor causing all this noise from the exhaust system?

Yep it sure can. A defective flap motor will definitely cause a louder exhaust noise than usual. That flap controls the exhaust flow and thus the sound. With the error code showing and the noise, it's extremely likely the flap motor. I would suggest taking it to a workshop for an exhaust repair.

Thanks for the confirmation. I dropped it off at the workshop, and they confirmed the exhaust flap was defective. Quoted 190€ for the exhaust repair. Appreciate the help!
