GLA Hybrid digital display issue
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Mercedes GLA hybrid is experiencing issues with its digital display, specifically the gear shift indicator, which is not functioning, leading to difficulties in gear engagement and grinding noises. The problem is suspected to be related to the transmission control unit, as indicated by error codes. The suggested solution is to have the transmission control unit replaced, which was confirmed by a workshop, with an estimated repair cost of around 1000€.

Fuses are fine, checked them all Specific error codes Yep, a bunch of them pointing to the transmission control unit You think it's actually the same issue even with a different brand What was the fix for your BMW

Well, error codes pointing to the control unit are a strong indicator I'm not saying it's exactly the same, but the symptoms sound awfully familiar In my case, the dealer confirmed it was a faulty transmission control unit They replaced it, and the problem vanished Honestly, with those grinding noises, you are better off having it checked by a workshop asap

Thanks, appreciate the insight Dropped it off at the workshop today, and you were spot on They confirmed it's the transmission control unit Quoted me almost exactly 1000€, so at least I was prepared for that Cheers

Sounds rough Did you check the basics, like fuses This might sound weird, but I had a similar issue with my old BMW a while back – though it wasn't a hybrid The gear selector was acting up, and the digital display was all over the place Was yours throwing any specific error codes
