GLA Hybrid Exhaust System Back Pressure
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Mercedes GLA hybrid is experiencing exhaust back pressure issues, indicated by a warning light and smoke during acceleration. Diagnostics suggest a malfunctioning exhaust back pressure sensor, preventing the diesel particulate filter (DPF) from regenerating. The problem is suspected to be a defective sensor, which was confirmed and resolved after a professional assessment, costing 245€.

Thanks for the input When you say 'similar' was it definitely the back pressure sensor and what were the exact symptoms I'm not seeing any obvious leaks in the exhaust system but I'm not a mechanic Just trying to get a clearer picture before I commit to the auto repair

Yep it was the back pressure sensor for me Same symptoms – warning light no DPF regeneration possible and the vehicle diagnostics pointed directly at it If you're seeing smoke though that might indicate something else is going on besides just the sensor Best bet is to get a proper vehicle diagnostics check at a workshop They can confirm if it's just the sensor or something more

Appreciate the confirmation I'll take it to a workshop for a professional assessment Turns out it was indeed the exhaust back pressure sensor as suspected The auto repair cost 245€ and the vehicle emissions problem is now resolved Thanks again for sharing your experience

Whoa that sounds rough I had something similar happen with my GLA though I didn't see smoke The back pressure sensor threw a code and the car felt sluggish like it was breathing through a straw Have you checked for any obvious exhaust leaks It might be a simple fix before you dive into replacing the sensor Think of it like a clogged artery – back pressure builds when the flow is restricted
