GLA hybrid idle stop malfunction

I am experiencing issues with the idle stop function in my Mercedes GLA hybrid vehicle from 2022. The car has 188331 kilometers on the odometer. The engine shuts off as expected, but a warning light illuminates in the speedometer, and an error is stored in the error memory. Could a heavily discharged or defective car battery cause the start-stop system to malfunction in a hybrid vehicle?

Hmm, that’s strange. Is Eco mode actually engaged when this happens? If the battery is weak, the starter motor might struggle to restart the engine quickly enough, which could trigger the error. Have you tried charging the battery?

The Eco mode is engaged. I have not tried charging the battery directly. Would a standard battery charger be suitable for a hybrid vehicle's auxiliary battery, or does it require a specialized charger?

I'm not entirely sure about the specifics of hybrid batteries. Given the error message and the symptoms you described, it does sound like it could be the battery. I think a workshop visit might be best to diagnose it properly. It is a hybrid vehicle, after all.

Thank you for your input. I took the GLA to a workshop, and the diagnostic confirmed the auxiliary battery was defective. Replacing it for 290€ resolved the start-stop issue. I appreciate your help.
