GLA seat heater failure

My 2015 Mercedes GLA with a gasoline engine has developed a fault with the seat heating. The driver's side seat warmer isn't getting warm. Diagnostics show an error code related to the seat heating element at 146121 km. I suspect a defective seat heating mat or a bad thermal sensor. Has anyone experienced similar heater failure? I'm looking at a heating repair bill of around 390€, does that sound right?

Whoa, that's almost exactly what happened to my GLA! Error stored in the memory and the seat warmer doing absolutely nothing. Is it just the driver's side? I'm guessing it's the seat heating mat itself. Did you check the wiring under the seat? Maybe a loose connection?

Yeah, just the driver's side. I've checked the easy stuff, like fuses and the connections under the seat, but everything seems fine there. What was the exact issue with your seat heater, and what did you end up doing to fix it?

Okay, mine was the mat. I didn't fancy ripping the seat apart myself, so I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the heating element inside the seat. It’s apparently quite common heater failure. Sounds like you're on the right track. Get it sorted professionally, unless you're super confident with auto electrics.

Thanks for confirming. Sounds like I'm on the right path. I'll take it to my local workshop and get the seat heating mat replaced. Hopefully, that'll sort it out. I appreciate the help!
