GLA sound system issue

Thanks! When you had the issue, did the head unit appear to be working normally otherwise? I mean, could you navigate menus and change settings, or was it completely frozen? I can navigate the menus and everything seems normal, which is why I was hoping it might be something simpler than a complete head unit failure.

Yes, mine was exactly the same. Everything looked normal, but no sound whatsoever. Sadly, it does sound like the amplifier inside the head unit has failed. I know it's a pain, but a workshop with diagnostic tools will be able to confirm it for you. It can be a fuse but having an error code stored points to a more serious issue.

Thanks a lot for confirming my suspicions. I was hoping it was something simpler, but it seems like replacing the display is the only way to fix it. I'll book it in at the workshop and get it sorted. At least I knew what to expect! I appreciate your help.

I had a similar issue in my Mercedes GLA a while back. No speaker crackle or anything, just complete silence. Is your volume control doing anything at all? The sound system in these cars can be finicky. The error memory can point you to the right direction, but sometimes it is not the root cause. I would check all the connections first, but it seems that it points to the head unit as you said. Could be a faulty amplifier inside the head unit.
