GLC Air Suspension Failure Help

Air suspension problems on my 2016 Mercedes GLC with gasoline engine The vehicle won't lift, leans, and displays an error message The ride is bumpy I suspect a faulty bellows valve Has anyone else encountered this

Summary of the thread

The 2016 Mercedes GLC experienced air suspension issues, including failure to lift, leaning, and a bumpy ride, with an error message indicating a potential problem with the bellows valve. The rapid leaning suggested a significant air leak, likely at the air spring. A workshop inspection confirmed the faulty bellows valve, which was replaced, resolving the suspension issues and restoring smooth operation.

Sounds like a classic air suspension failure. The bellows valve is a likely culprit, especially with those symptoms. Have you checked for any obvious air leaks around the air spring? A visual inspection might reveal something. Also, are you getting any specific error codes? Knowing the exact code would help narrow down the possibilities. It could also be a problem with the air compressor itself or the air lines, although the leaning suggests a localized issue like the bellows valve on one side. Does the leaning happen immediately after starting the car, or does it take some time?

I haven't spotted any visible air leaks, but I haven't done a soapy water test yet. The error code points towards the bellows valve. The leaning seems to happen pretty quickly after starting, maybe within a minute or two. Could it still be the compressor if it's leaning that fast?

Given the error code and the rapid leaning, a defective bellows valve is almost certainly the primary issue. While a failing compressor could contribute, the speed of the lean strongly suggests a significant air leak at the air spring itself. I would advise taking it to a qualified workshop to have the bellows valve professionally inspected and replaced. Ignoring it could potentially damage the air compressor if it's constantly trying to compensate for the air leak. Plus, driving with a faulty pneumatic suspension isn't exactly ideal. Consider the 590€ repair cost as an investment in safety and preventing further damage.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. It was indeed a faulty bellows valve on the air spring. Replaced it, and the suspension is working perfectly again. The error is gone, and the ride is smooth. Cost me 590€ as estimated.
