GLC antenna issue and repair

I'm having some odd issues with my 2021 Mercedes GLC gasoline. I've clocked 127153 km. Lately, I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, and the unlocking/locking isn't working right. Now, the engine won't start unless the key is in the ignition lock. Could this be related to the bumper antenna? The car radio seems unaffected though. Is there any chance this could be a simple car antenna or fm antenna problem, or is it more likely something with the automotive antenna system?

I had a similar issue with my GLC, although the mileage was lower. My symptoms were exactly as you described. I would suggest checking the antenna mount and connections first. Have you inspected the cable and plug connection of the component for any defects?

You mentioned checking the cable and plug connection. Is this something I can easily access myself, or does it require specialized tools? I'm not sure where the bumper antenna and its associated wiring are located exactly. Is the antenna mount easy to reach?

In my case, the cable was visibly damaged near the antenna mount. If you're not comfortable doing the work yourself, I would recommend taking it to a workshop. They can diagnose it properly. From my research, a defective cable or plug connection is quite common for the bumper antenna. A car radio specialist should also be able to fix your automotive antenna.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. It was indeed a defective cable at the bumper antenna. The repair cost me 95€. Everything is working as expected now.
