GLC Hybrid clutch pedal switch issue

I'm having a weird issue with my 2016 Mercedes GLC Hybrid. The error memory has a fault stored related to the clutch pedal switch. Also, the gear selection isn't showing on the speedometer, cruise control isn't working and sometimes the engine won't even start. I suspect a faulty cable or plug connection on the safety switch. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

That sounds frustrating! I had a comparable problem with my old Audi A4. The symptoms were almost the same – cruise control quit, and it was throwing up errors related to the gear selector. It was a faulty safety mechanism linked to the clutch. Have you checked the wiring around the Clutch Switch? It might be worth a look before you start replacing parts.

Thanks for the tip! When you say 'wiring', are we talking about the connector itself, or the whole length of the cable? And is it easy to get to?

In my case, it was the connector. The pins were corroded, causing a bad connection. Accessing it was a bit fiddly, needed to remove a panel under the steering wheel. If you're not comfortable doing that, maybe best to get a workshop to check it out. Given your other symptoms, it does sound like a Faulty Switch or related wiring issue. Getting it diagnosed properly is vital, especially with safety features involved.

Thanks again! I took your advice and brought it to a local shop. They confirmed it was indeed the connector on the clutch pedal Safety Switch. New connector and wiring repair cost 95€. Everything is working perfectly now!
