GLC Hybrid Engine Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2016 GLC Hybrid is experiencing engine stalling issues. A similar problem in a petrol version was caused by a defective high-pressure fuel pump, leading to stalling, reduced power, and a check engine light. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle diagnosed by a qualified workshop to confirm if the high-pressure fuel pump or another component is at fault. In this case, the issue was identified as the fuel volume regulator, part of the high-pressure pump, and was resolved with a repair.

Thanks for the quick reply. Fuel efficiency did seem a bit off recently, but I thought I was imagining it. What was the cause in your case?

The issue was a defective high-pressure fuel pump. This delivers fuel at the correct pressure to the engine. When it fails, it can cause those symptoms. The engine may not receive enough fuel, leading to stalling, reduced power, and a check engine light. Take your GLC to a qualified workshop for a diagnosis. They should be able to confirm if it is the high-pressure fuel pump or another component in the fuel system. Early diagnosis can prevent further damage.

Thanks for the advice. The workshop confirmed it was the fuel volume regulator, which they said is part of the high-pressure pump. Repair cost me 1510€. At least it's sorted now.

I drive a GLC petrol version. I experienced something similar a while back. The check engine light came on, and the engine would stall at idle, especially when cold. Did you notice any change in fuel efficiency before this happened? Maybe some engine misfire too? I'd suggest checking sensor readings, as a faulty sensor can trigger the check engine light.
