GLC start stop system error

My 2020 Mercedes GLC with a gasoline engine is showing a start-stop system error. The engine shuts off at lights as it should, but I'm getting a warning light on the dash and an error is stored. It has 271234 km. Any ideas?

I had something similar happen with my GLC. Does it give you an 'automatic restart not available' message sometimes? For me, it turned out to be a battery issue. The start-stop system is really sensitive to the car battery's health. If it's not holding a charge properly, the system will disable itself and throw a code. How old is your battery?

Hmm, interesting. I haven't seen that exact message but it does sound like a car battery issue. How did you finally diagnose yours? Was it just a matter of replacing the battery?

Well, I tried charging it first, but it didn't really help for long. The error kept coming back. Eventually, I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the battery failing a load test and needed replacing. Apparently, the start-stop system puts a lot of strain on the battery. I would recommend going to a workshop too and having them run a proper diagnostic.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop and you were spot on. They said the battery was heavily discharged and replaced it. Cost me 290€ but the start-stop system is now working perfectly again. Appreciate the help!
