GLK radar sensor problem
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Mercedes GLK diesel was experiencing issues with a radar sensor error, erratic speedometer behavior, and malfunctioning collision avoidance. The problem was suspected to be related to the radar sensor, possibly due to physical obstructions or damage. The radar sensors are typically located within the front bumper. Thanks for the quick reply I haven't physically checked the sensor yet where exactly is it located on the GLK And I don't have the exact error codes handy, just know it's related to the radar system I'll try to pull them tonight, but any pointers on where to find the sensor itself would be amazing

You're welcome On the GLK, the radar sensors for collision avoidance are typically located within the front bumper, either behind the Mercedes star emblem or slightly to the side Given the symptoms you've described, it is advisable to have a qualified technician perform a thorough diagnostic evaluation While a visual inspection and cleaning may resolve the issue, radar calibration might be necessary, especially if the sensor has been impacted or misaligned Modern collision avoidance systems are sensitive, and professional intervention is often the most effective approach to ensure proper functionality and safety

You were spot on I took it to a workshop, and it turned out the sensor was just caked in dirt They cleaned it, cleared the error, and everything's back to normal Total cost: 45€ Thanks again for the help

I understand your concern regarding the radar sensor malfunction in your Mercedes GLK Automotive sensors can indeed cause a cascade of electronic issues when they fail Similar symptoms were observed in a 2016 Audi A4 I maintained, where a faulty parking sensor disrupted the entire parking assist system Have you inspected the sensor itself for any physical obstructions or damage It is crucial to determine if the sensor's field of view is clear before proceeding with more complex diagnostics Could you describe the specific error codes that are being logged
