GLK radio reception issue

I am experiencing a radio reception issue with my Mercedes GLK, built in 2015, gasoline engine, mileage at 255389 km. The infotainment system displays an error message, and the audio system is not functional. An error is also stored in the error memory. I suspect a defective antenna. Could a faulty antenna ground or signal amplifier cause this kind of poor signal and static noise in the car radio?

Summary of the thread

A Mercedes GLK owner is experiencing radio reception issues, with the infotainment system displaying a "No Signal" error message and storing an error in the memory. The problem is suspected to be a defective antenna, possibly due to a faulty antenna ground or signal amplifier. After inspecting the antenna connection and finding it secure, the owner visits a workshop, where it is confirmed that the antenna is defective, leading to its replacement.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, that sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem in my old car. Have you checked the antenna connection itself? Sometimes it just gets loose or corroded. Also, is the error message specific? Does it mention anything about the antenna or signal?

Thank you for your suggestion. I have visually inspected the antenna connection, and it appears to be secure. The error message is a generic "No Signal" message. Is there a reliable way to test the signal amplifier or antenna ground without specialized equipment?

Yeah, without proper equipment, testing the signal amplifier and antenna ground is tricky. That generic 'No Signal' message is super unhelpful, isn't it? If the connection looks good and you're still getting nothing, it really does sound like the antenna itself is kaput or the amplifier has given up the ghost. Honestly, at this point, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can pinpoint the exact problem, which could save you money in the long run.

Understood. Thank you for your input; I appreciate the advice. I visited a workshop, and it was indeed a defective antenna, as suspected. The repair cost was 255€, including parts and labor.
