Glow Plug Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Toyota LandCruiser diesel is experiencing a glow plug issue, indicated by a preheating lamp that doesn't switch off and an error stored in the memory. The problem is suspected to be a defective glow plug, causing rough idling and starting issues, especially in cold conditions. Replacing the glow plugs is suggested as the solution, with a recommendation to have the work done at a workshop to avoid complications.

Yes, you're right, it does idle roughly, especially on cold starts. So it was definitely the glow plugs in your case? Anything else I should check before replacing them?

Yep, replacing the glow plugs fixed it completely. Unless you have the tools and know-how, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. Messing with that stuff can open a can of worms!

Thanks! Seems like it's probably the glow plugs then. I'll get it to the workshop. Repair cost me 440€. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar! I had the same problem with my LandCruiser. The glow plug issue caused rough idling and problems starting when it was cold. Check engine light was on too. It's like a faulty light bulb in your engine, causing all sorts of chaos. Did you notice any of those symptoms?
