Glow plug light stays on

My 2001 Peugeot 106 diesel has a problem. The preheating lamp doesn't switch off after ignition, and there's an error code for the glow plugs. Odometer reads 104790 km. Think it's a defective glow plug? What happens if I keep driving it like this?

Had a similar issue with my 106 a while back. The glow plug light staying on is a classic sign. Any difficulty starting, especially when the engine is cold?

Cold starts are getting harder. I have to crank the engine longer. What fixed it for you, and what could happen if I don't fix it?

Yep, sounds exactly like what I experienced. I ended up taking it to a workshop; they confirmed it was the glow plugs. I wouldn't drive it too much like that, you might end up with further issues. If I remember well, the mechanic said something about unburnt fuel potentially damaging the catalytic converter.

I'll replace the glow plugs. The repair cost 440€ and solved the problem. Thanks for the help.
