GLS clutch switch issues

My 2016 Mercedes GLS with a gasoline engine has a fault related to the clutch pedal switch at 248742 km. The gear selection display in the speedometer is non-functional, cruise control is inoperative, and the engine has intermittent start issues. A defective cable or plug connection seems likely. The estimated repair cost is 95€. What could be the causes and safety implications of these combined symptoms related to the clutch switch?

Clutch switch issues, eh? Sounds familiar. I had something similar happen on my GLS. No start, cruise dead. Check the Gear Selector too. Is that thing working right? Sometimes it's all tied together with a funky safety mechanism. Could be a simple fix, could be a pain. Are you sure it's just the switch?

Can you clarify whether your issue also involved the gear selection display malfunctioning in the speedometer and, if so, how you addressed that particular symptom in conjunction with the clutch switch?

Yep, gear selection display went haywire too. Honestly, with all those symptoms popping up, it might be best to get it checked at a workshop. Could be a deeper electrical gremlin. Good luck with the fix!

Understood. I appreciate the confirmation regarding the gear selection display and the suggestion to consult a workshop. I will proceed with that course of action. It was a faulty clutch switch, and the wiring was damaged. Replacement cost was as estimated. Thank you again for your help.
