GLS Hybrid Temperature Sensor Fault

My 2021 Mercedes GLS hybrid is throwing an outside temperature sensor fault. I have 150377 km on the clock. The error is stored in the memory, AC won't kick on, and the spray nozzles for the windshield are frozen even when it's not that cold. Also, the mirror heating isn't working. I'm thinking it's a dodgy connection somewhere. Has anyone else run into this? I'm trying to get my head around the sensor diagnostics before I start tearing things apart. I am worried about sensor calibration afterwards. Any thoughts on the vehicle temperature gauge going bonkers because of this?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Mercedes GLS hybrid is experiencing an outside temperature sensor fault, leading to issues with the air conditioning, frozen windshield spray nozzles, and non-functional mirror heating. The problem might be due to a faulty connection or defective sensor. Suggested solutions include checking the sensor's output with diagnostic tools and considering sensor replacement, with a focus on ensuring proper calibration afterward. Taking the vehicle to a workshop for professional diagnosis and repair is recommended.

Hmm, that's strange. I have a GLS too, but not the hybrid. I had a similar issue with my air conditioning not working, but I never really thought about the other things you mentioned. What do you mean by 'sensor diagnostics' and 'sensor calibration'? I'm not very technical.

By sensor diagnostics, I mean checking the sensor's output with a multimeter or diagnostic tool to see if it's sending the correct signal. Sensor calibration is about making sure the sensor is reading accurately after you replace it, sometimes you need to use special software to tell the car the new sensor is working correctly. Was your 'similar issue' exactly the same, with all those symptoms, or just the AC?

Okay, I understand a bit better now. To be honest, I didn't check all of those things you mentioned. My AC just wasn't working. I took it to the workshop, and they told me it was the temperature sensor and they replaced the vehicle temperature sensor. That fixed the AC issue. Maybe you should just take it to a workshop and have them check it out.

Thanks. Knowing someone else had a similar problem helps. I'll probably bite the bullet and take it in. The potential cause seems to be a defective cable or plug connection to the sensor. Estimate I got was around 95€ for the temperature sensor replacement. Appreciate the help!
