GLS sun blind problem

No, I didn't notice any strange noises or jerky movements before it failed. It was working perfectly one day, and then just stopped the next. Any idea if this is something I could fix myself, or am I better off taking it to a mechanic? Trying to avoid a huge bill for an interior accessory!

Okay, no weird noises is interesting. I'm no expert, but honestly, messing with car blinds can be tricky. It's all integrated into the system. I'd say unless you're super confident with auto electrics, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. It's annoying, I know. These things are never cheap. I went to the workshop. They replaced the sun blind motor, and it's been perfect ever since. It is like replacing a broken gear in a watch, requires precision and specific tools. I hope that helps!

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were right, it was the sunblind motor. They replaced it for 330€. Now the sun visor works again and I have my sun protection back!

Oh man, I feel your pain! I had almost the exact same problem with my GLS. It's like having a broken sun visor, but fancier. The sun protection is a must, especially on long drives. I bet it's the motor, like you suspect. If the error memory says so, it's almost certainly the culprit. It is like when the fuse blows on your christmas lights, one defective item and the whole chain is out! If it's stuck, it can't provide that vital UV protection. Did you happen to notice any weird noises before it died? Also, has it always been smooth, or did it start getting jerky beforehand?
