GMC Acadia Door Lock System Complete Failure Fix Needed

Thanks for sharing that experience. I also faced the same issue with my GMC Acadia where the car locks stopped responding. After checking the fuse box and trying a new key fob battery, I ended up taking it to a shop since nothing worked. The issue turned out to be related to the security system module, just like in your case. How much did your repair cost in the end? Just wondering if prices have changed much since then. Also, has the locking mechanism given you any more trouble since the fix? Mine has been working fine for about 8 months now, but I keep worrying it might fail again.

After getting the central locking fixed on my GMC Terrain, the total repair bill came to 95 Euro for replacing a damaged cable connection in the security module. The keyless entry system has worked flawlessly since the repair was completed, no more issues with the door locks or remote fob functionality. The mechanic explained the car alarm system was triggering intermittently due to this faulty connection, which was causing the central locking failure. Fortunately, once they identified and repaired the connection, everything returned to normal operation. For anyone facing similar problems, getting it checked early helped avoid more extensive damage to the locking mechanism. The repair cost was reasonable considering the technical nature of the security system work. Going on 2 years now without any recurring issues with the central locking or keyless entry functions.

Thanks for the helpful replies. I finally got my Acadia fixed last week. After checking the fuse box and key fob battery myself, I took it to a certified mechanic who specializes in car security systems. The central locking system needed a complete module replacement since the original unit was fried. The total repair came to 380 Euro including parts and labor. More than I expected, but the mechanic showed me the corroded components and explained why a full replacement was needed. They also reprogrammed the security system to work with my existing key fobs. The whole job took about 3 hours. Been working perfectly since then, all doors lock and unlock properly now, both with the key fob and manual controls. Really glad I got it sorted before winter. The peace of mind knowing the car locks properly is worth the cost.

Had a similar issue on my 2012 GMC Terrain. The keyless entry system completely failed, affecting both the key fob and manual locking mechanisms. The root cause was a faulty connection in the security system control module. The repair involved: Testing the fuse box connections, Replacing corroded wiring harness near the driver door, Reprogramming the central locking system module This is typically a serious electrical issue that requires professional diagnostic equipment. If your system shows similar symptoms, the problem likely extends beyond just the key fob battery or a single blown fuse. Key indicators pointing to a system failure: All doors refusing to respond, No response from multiple key fobs, Manual lock actuation not working, Stored error codes in the system The repair took about 4 hours at the shop. This type of electrical issue tends to get worse if left unaddressed and can potentially affect other security system components. Would recommend having it checked by a certified mechanic who specializes in automotive electrical systems.
