Grandeur low coolant check engine light
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Hyundai Grandeur with a diesel engine had a low coolant level and a persistent check engine light. The initial inspection showed no obvious leaks, but a stored error indicated a potential issue. A suggestion was made to check for white smoke or milky oil, which could indicate a head gasket problem, but these symptoms were absent. The problem was eventually identified as a slow leak from the water pump, which was resolved by replacing the pump, turning off the check engine light.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks for the quick reply! No white smoke that I've noticed, and the oil seems normal, thankfully. Was your issue also just a constantly low coolant level, or did you have other symptoms too?

Mine was constantly low coolant. Turned out to be a slow leak from the water pump, hard to spot. If you're not seeing any other symptoms, I'd still get it checked out at a workshop. They can pressure test the system and find it for sure.

Alright, thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were right, it was a slow leak from the water pump. Got it replaced, cost me 52€, and the check engine light is finally off. Really appreciate the help!

Low coolant on a Grandeur can be a pain. Had something similar a while back. First thing, are you seeing any white smoke from the exhaust? And have you checked the oil for a milky color? That could point to a head gasket issue.
