Grandeur Stiff Steering
Summary of the thread
The 2009 Hyundai Grandeur experienced stiff steering and intermittent power steering failure, with occasional vibrations at lower speeds. The issue was suspected to be related to the steering angle sensor. After taking the vehicle to a workshop, it was confirmed that the sensor's coding was corrupted. Recalibrating the sensor resolved the problem, restoring proper steering functionality.

Thanks for the info! How exactly do I check the sensor coding? Is that something I can do myself with a standard OBD2 scanner, or is it a dealer-only kind of thing?

I think you'd need a more advanced diagnostic tool than a regular OBD2 scanner to check the coding accurately. The basic scanners usually only read fault codes. If the coding is indeed faulty, it could very well be the root cause. In my case, a specialized workshop had to recalibrate the sensor. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop and letting them check for the error.

Took the Grandeur to a local workshop, and they confirmed the steering angle sensor coding was corrupted. They recoded it, and the power steering is now working perfectly! Total cost was 195€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Interesting. I had a somewhat similar problem with my old Opel Astra. The symptoms were different (no vibrations), but the power steering would give me trouble, especially when parking. It turned out to be the steering angle sensor as well. Have you checked whether the coding of the sensor is still correct? That was the problem with my Astra.
