Grandland X ABS Fault

I've got a 2019 Vauxhall Grandland X hybrid with about 218998 km on the clock. Recently the ABS lamp lights up and the ABS system fails. I ran a diagnostic and it's showing a lateral acceleration sensor fault stored in the error memory. Anyone else had this?

Sounds like a yaw rate sensor issue, possibly the control unit itself. Has the wheel alignment been checked recently? A bad alignment can sometimes trigger these warnings, or even steering angle sensor issues. It might be worth checking the basics before diving into replacing parts.

Wheel alignment hasn't been checked recently, no. So, is it likely a defective control unit or could it be something simpler like a bad connection? Also, what are the implications of driving with this fault?

While a bad connection is possible, the stored error memory points more towards the control unit being defective. Driving with the ABS light on means the ABS, and potentially traction control, won't function correctly, which is a serious safety warning. Given it's a hybrid, best to get it looked at by a workshop. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a garage, and you were right, it was indeed the control unit for the lateral acceleration sensor. Cost me about 1000€ to replace. All sorted now.
