Grandland X check engine light fuel consumption

I'm experiencing trouble with my 2017 Vauxhall Grandland X gasoline. The check engine light is constantly on, and I've also noticed a significant increase in fuel consumption lately. My car has only 22834 km on it. After some research, it seems like the Inlet VANOS mechanics might be faulty, maybe a defect in one of the camshaft solenoid valves or the power supply. Has anyone dealt with something similar? It sounds similar to the BMW VANOS issues, something with the variable timing. I am worried about oil sludge, too!

I had a similar problem with my 2015 Renault Kadjar. The check engine light was on, and the fuel consumption was terrible. I did some digging, and it turned out to be a problem with a solenoid valve that controls the variable valve timing. Is your engine misfiring at all?

No, I haven't noticed any engine misfires, just the check engine light and increased fuel consumption. How did you figure out it was the solenoid valve on your Kadjar? Did you have to replace it?

I took it to a mechanic. They ran some diagnostics and pinpointed the faulty solenoid valve. It's a common issue, apparently. It's best to get it checked out professionally because it could cause more damage if left unfixed. Prepare for a 250€ bill!

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! I'll take it to a workshop to have it checked out. I appreciate the advice!
