Grandland X Engine Sluggish Whistling Noise

I've got a 2019 Vauxhall Grandland X Hybrid with 130360 km on the clock. Recently, the check engine light keeps popping up and the engine feels like it's lost a lot of its power. It's really sluggish and makes a whistling and loud hissing noise when I try to accelerate. Sometimes it even stalls when I'm idling. I've also noticed my fuel consumption has gone up. Could it be the boost pressure actuator?

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms with my Grandland X. Reduced power, weird noises. Have you checked for any error codes? Mine turned out to be a faulty electrical bypass valve in the turbo system, affecting the boost control. Is the whistling noise constant, or only under acceleration?

Thanks for the reply! I did a quick scan and it points towards a boost pressure actuator fault. Was that the same error code you were getting? And yeah, the whistling is mostly when I accelerate.

Yep, boost pressure actuator was the error code I was getting too. Given the symptoms and the error code, it does sound like a defective actuator valve. If I were you, I would get it checked at a workshop, because it can cause further damage to the turbo system if left unattended.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to a local garage and you were spot on, electrical bypass valve was defective. Repair cost me 250€. Car runs like new again, thanks!
