Grandland X exhaust leak lambda sensor
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2021 Grandland X experiencing a check engine light, rough running, exhaust leak, and strong smell. The initial suspicion was an issue with the exhaust treatment system, possibly involving NOx sensors or the particulate filter. However, it was suggested that the problem might be a defective lambda sensor. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the lambda sensor was indeed the issue, and it was repaired.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Mine is gasoline, so no DEF fluid. The exhaust leak seems to be coming from somewhere near the middle of the car, but it's hard to pinpoint exactly. Did you figure out what was causing your issues? Was it the lambda sensor?

Yes, it turned out to be a defective lambda sensor. The garage confirmed it with diagnostics. I suggest you take yours to a trusted workshop. They will be able to read the error codes and give you an accurate diagnosis.

Thanks a lot. I took it to the workshop, and you were right – it was a defective lambda sensor. Repair cost me 375€. Hopefully, this fixes the issue for good.

I had a similar issue with my Grandland X. Check engine light, rough running, and a weird smell. Have you checked for any obvious exhaust leaks? What about DEF fluid levels if yours is a diesel?
