Grandland X Knocking Combustion
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Grandland X with 108,000 km is experiencing knocking, reduced power, jerky acceleration, and smoke during acceleration, accompanied by an error code. The initial suspicion is combustion chamber deposits, despite the knock sensor and timing being in order. A suggestion to use higher octane fuel is made, but ultimately, a mechanic confirms that the issue is indeed due to significant combustion chamber deposits, which are cleaned to resolve the problem.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks! With your Megane, what exactly was the issue and how did you figure it out? Did you see similar error codes or any changes in fuel consumption?

Yeah, the Megane was throwing misfire codes like crazy! I tried the high-octane thing but it only helped a tiny bit. Mechanic said it was definitely combustion chamber deposits. Honestly, just take it to a workshop. Saved me a headache in the end!

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and you were right – it was major deposits in the combustion chamber. They cleaned it out, and the knocking is gone. Cost me 425€.

Whoa, sounds rough! I had almost the EXACT same thing happen with my old Renault Megane. Jerky acceleration and smoke? Nightmare! Have you tried running higher octane fuel? Might help clean things up a bit. Or could be piston slap, I guess...
