Grandland X Overheating Slow Warmup

My 2020 Vauxhall Grandland X diesel is overheating and taking a long time to warm up. It has 158,285 kilometers on it. Coolant level is fine, and there are no visible leaks. Could this be a faulty thermostat? Any ideas?

I had a similar issue with my Grandland X not too long ago. Same symptoms – overheating and slow warm-up. It might very well be the thermostat. Has the cooling fan been running constantly, even when the engine isn't that hot?

Thanks! I have noticed that the cooling fan does seem to be running more frequently, even on shorter journeys. How did you resolve the issue with your Grandland X?

Yeah, the fan running all the time is another sign. I had it checked out by a mechanic, and they confirmed it was the thermostat. They replaced it, and the problem went away. Given your symptoms, I'd advise taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed.

Thanks for the advice! I took the Grandland X to a trusted mechanic. They confirmed the thermostat cooling circuit motor was defective. They replaced the map thermostat, and, as you suggested, the issue is now resolved. The total cost was 350€. Your insight was very helpful!
