Grandland X Oxygen Sensor Fault

I've got a 2020 Vauxhall Grandland X, gasoline engine, with 128431 km on the clock. Recently, the check engine light illuminated, and the error memory indicates an issue with the oxygen sensor. I've also noticed higher fuel consumption. Could a defective cable or plug connection really be the culprit, or is it more likely the sensor itself has just aged?

Interesting. I have a Grandland X too. Check engine light and increased fuel consumption sound awfully familiar. Did you check the exhaust sensor? Is it reading correctly? It could be giving you a false positive on the oxygen sensor. Just a thought!

Thanks for the pointer! So, did you have the same error code stored in the error memory? When you say exhaust sensor, do you mean the one before or after the catalytic converter? Trying to narrow it down before I start replacing parts.

Yeah, same error code about the oxygen sensor. And yes, it turned out to be the exhaust sensor before the cat. Though, honestly, with those symptoms, I'd just take it to a workshop. Diagnosing air-fuel ratio problems can be a real headache.

Thanks, I appreciate the help! Eventually, I took it to the workshop, and you were right. It was indeed a defective cable connection on the upstream oxygen sensor, costing me 95€ to repair.
