Grandland X power steering fault

I've got a 2022 Vauxhall Grandland X with a gasoline engine and a weird issue. At 245182 km, the steering wheel vibrates, handling feels spongy, and the error memory has a fault stored. It's getting harder to steer, almost like the power steering is failing. Could a defective cable or plug connection be the culprit?

Sounds familiar! I have a Grandland X too. Had something similar happen – felt like wrestling a bear to turn the wheel. Have you checked the hydraulic fluid level? It could be as simple as that. Is the steering pump noisy?

Thanks for the tip! I did check the fluid level, it seems fine. How noisy is 'noisy' for the steering pump? I'm not sure what's normal, but it doesn't sound obviously loud. What was the solution in your case?

Hmm, if the fluid is okay, and it's not screaming like a banshee, it might be more than just low fluid. Mine turned out to be a corroded connector on the steering rack. Honestly, I'd get it checked at a workshop; these systems can be tricky. It's better to be safe than sorry with steering.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to a local shop, and you were spot on! Turns out a cable connector was indeed defective. 95€ later, the power steering is back. Thanks!
