Grandland X PTC Heater Fault

I've got a 2021 Vauxhall Grandland X with a diesel engine and I'm facing a weird issue. It's got about 22366 km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed poor engine running during cold starts, along with higher fuel consumption. My OBD scanner shows an error stored in the memory that points towards the PTC heater. Any thoughts? I'm suspecting the electric auxiliary heater is defective, but looking for confirmation before I start spending money.

I had a similar issue with my Grandland X. PTC stands for Positive Temperature Coefficient. In essence, it's an electric heater used to quickly warm the passenger cabin and assist engine warm-up, especially in diesel engines. Are you experiencing longer engine warm-up times, and is the cabin heat delayed or weak on cold mornings?

Yes, that sounds spot on. The engine definitely takes longer to warm up, and the cabin heat isn't as strong as it used to be, especially when I first start the car. Did you manage to solve the problem yourself, or did you take it to a workshop?

Given the symptoms and the error code pointing to the PTC heater, it does sound like a defective electric auxiliary heater. While some DIYers might attempt a replacement, I'd suggest taking it to a qualified workshop. These systems can be complex, and proper diagnosis and replacement are crucial to avoid further issues. You can expect a bill around 350€ for the heater repair including parts and labor.

Thanks a lot for the confirmation and advice! It seems like a trip to the workshop is inevitable. I appreciate you sharing your experience; it's good to have a rough estimate of the cost beforehand. I'll post again once the issue is resolved.
