Grandland X Radar Sensor Fault

I'm having a frustrating issue with my 2017 Vauxhall Grandland X diesel. I keep getting an error message in the speedometer, and the error memory shows a fault with the radar sensor. This is causing several systems to fail, and a warning light is constantly on. Has anyone else experienced this? I've checked the area around the sensor, but I can't see anything obviously blocking it. Any ideas?

I've got a Grandland X myself, though can't remember the exact year right now. I had very similar issues a while back – error messages galore due to radar interference that eventually manifested as total sensor failure. First, is your adaptive cruise control working? And did you try cleaning the sensor? It sounds dumb, but that fixed it for me.

Thanks for the quick reply! Adaptive cruise control definitely isn't working. Where exactly is the radar sensor located, and what's the best way to clean it without damaging it? Should I be looking at radar calibration too, or is that overkill?

The sensor is behind the front bumper, usually on the driver's side. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with recalibration yourself. I simply cleaned mine carefully with a soft, damp cloth – no harsh chemicals! Given your symptoms, and if cleaning doesn't do the trick, it could be a faulty sensor or wiring. Best to get it checked out by a qualified mechanic; they can properly diagnose it to radar errors. I bit the bullet and went to the workshop.

Okay, thanks for the advice! I cleaned the sensor as you suggested, but no luck. Took it to a local garage, and they found the sensor was just dirty as you suggested but they re-seated correctly and now it is working again. They charged me 45€ – not bad at all. Appreciate the help!
