Grandland X Starting Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Vauxhall Grandland X diesel is experiencing starting issues, cutting out mid-drive, and running roughly. The owner suspects the ignition switch but lacks a fuse layout to confirm. Another owner with similar problems suggests it could be related to the immobilizer system, but ultimately, a faulty ignition switch was identified as the cause. The solution involves taking the car to a workshop for repair.

Dashboard lights seem normal, no unusual flickering or warnings. Did yours throw up any error codes, or was it just guesswork?

No error codes showed up on mine. It was just a complete refusal to start, or cutting out randomly. To be honest, after fiddling around for a bit, I took it to a workshop. Turned out to be a faulty ignition switch, not something I could easily fix myself.

Right, ignition switch it is then! I was hoping to avoid a trip to the garage but it seems that's the only way. Thanks for sharing your experience. It's a huge help. Booked it in for next week, should be around 52€ for the repair - fingers crossed that's the end of it!

I had similar issues with my Grandland X. It could be related to the car's immobilizer system. Have you noticed any issues with the dashboard lights when it refuses to start? That was a key indicator for me.
