Grandland X transmission issues

Thanks for the quick reply! To answer your questions: it doesn't seem to matter if the engine is cold or hot, the problem is still there. And yes, the error code I got does seem to point towards the transmission control unit. Could it be that the control unit is the culprit, like if the brain of the gearbox has gone haywire?

Yeah, a dodgy control unit could definitely explain those symptoms. It's like having a conductor leading an orchestra who's suddenly forgotten the score! Given that the error code points to it, and you're experiencing rough shifting and starting issues, it's highly probable. Unfortunately, transmission control units aren't usually a simple fix. You're likely looking at a replacement or reprogramming, which is best left to a specialist. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a reputable workshop.

Thanks a lot for the advice, that’s pretty much what I was fearing. Dropped it off at the local garage, and they confirmed it was indeed the transmission control unit. Cost me 1000€ for a new one fitted, but at least it’s running smoothly again. Appreciate the help!

Sounds like a pain! The 'won't start in park' thing, coupled with the check engine light and shifting issues, could point to a few things. Have you noticed if it's worse when the engine is cold, or after it's been running a while? Slipping gears and error codes definitely suggest something's not happy internally with the transmission or its control system. Is the error code related to the transmission specifically?
