Thanks! That's really helpful to hear about your experience with the Insignia. My symptoms sound identical to what you had. Would you mind sharing roughly how much the whole job set you back? Also, has everything stayed good since the repair, or have you noticed any other issues popping up? Thinking I might need to bite the bullet and go to a proper Vauxhall specialist like you did. The cheap fixes from regular garages just don't seem worth the hassle anymore.

Hey again! Just to give you an update, my Insignia's been running like a dream since I got it fixed last summer! The final bill came to 1550.00 € at the Vauxhall specialist, which covered sorting out the internally defective DPF. Yeah, it wasn't cheap, but honestly, it was worth every penny for the peace of mind. The best part? That annoying DPF remaining mileage warning that was driving me nuts is completely gone now. Seriously, it's like having a different car, no more black smoke, full power restored, and the engine's running super smooth. Haven't had a single issue since the repair. Looking back, going to the Vauxhall specialist was definitely the right call. These DPF systems are pretty complex, and you really want someone who knows what they're doing. If your GrandlandX symptoms are as similar as they sound, I'd say skip the regular garages and go straight to a specialist. Could save you money in the long run, you know? Let me know how you get on with yours!

Thanks again for all the details! Just wanted to update you, I took your advice and went to the Vauxhall specialist last week. You were spot on about everything! Got my GrandlandX back yesterday, and what a difference! The black smoke is completely gone, and it's running like new again. They found pretty much the same issues as your Insignia, damaged DPF and faulty sensors. Bill came to about 1600 €, pretty close to what you paid. The funny thing is, I was so nervous about going to the specialist because of the cost, but watching them work was impressive. They knew exactly what they were doing, showed me the damaged parts, and explained everything clearly. Way better than my previous experiences with regular garages! Really glad I asked here and got your input. Saved me from wasting more time and money on temporary fixes. The car's running perfectly now, no warning lights, no smoke, just smooth sailing! Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me make the right decision!

Hey there! I can relate to your DPF troubles. Had similar issues with my 2016 Vauxhall Insignia diesel (the 2.0 CDTI) last summer. Started exactly the same way, black smoke, sluggish performance, and those annoying DPF warnings. Turned out my DPF had severe internal damage, the honeycomb structure was partially collapsed. Pretty serious stuff. Took it to the Vauxhall specialist in town after my regular mechanic couldn't sort it. They did a complete diagnostic and found that the DPF sensors were also shot, which was preventing proper regeneration cycles. Had to get the whole DPF unit replaced along with the sensors. Not a quick fix, took them about two days to complete everything. They also had to reprogram the ECU to properly communicate with the new DPF system. Been running smooth since then, no more smoke or power issues. My advice? Find a certified Vauxhall specialist who has experience with diesel particulate systems. These DPF issues can get complicated if not handled properly. Let me know if you need more details.
