GrandlandX Brake Light Failure

Alright, GrandlandX gurus, need some brainpower. My 2023 Vauxhall GrandlandX, gasoline engine, is throwing a hissy fit. 73795 km on the clock and suddenly the brake lights are playing hide-and-seek. Getting an error stored in the error memory, brake light failure warning, and a lovely error message popping up on the infotainment. I've checked the bulbs, fuses are good, but I suspect a dodgy brake light switch. Anyone seen this before? I'm leaning towards it being user error somewhere in the pedal box area.

The symptoms you describe do strongly suggest a faulty brake light switch. Before condemning the switch outright, have you performed a diagnostic scan to retrieve the specific fault code? Additionally, could you elaborate on the circumstances under which the error manifests? Is it intermittent or consistently present?

Good shout on the fault code, I pulled a P0571 - Brake Switch A Circuit Malfunction. It's pretty consistent, comes on almost immediately after starting and pressing the brake pedal. Any specific tests I can perform on the switch itself before resorting to replacement?

P0571 unequivocally points to the brake light switch or its circuit. Given the consistency, I'd advise against extensive DIY diagnostics without the proper equipment. The GrandlandX's braking system is electronically integrated, and improper handling could exacerbate the issue. I would recommend consulting a qualified technician at a trusted workshop for a precise diagnosis and repair.

Took your advice and went to the workshop. Turns out it was indeed the brake light switch... or rather, the fact that my floor mat was interfering with the full travel of the brake pedal! They repositioned the mat, cleared the code, and all is well. Total cost: 0€ Thanks for the guidance!
