GrandlandX electric seat malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Vauxhall GrandlandX hybrid had an issue with the passenger electric seat not adjusting and displaying an error. The problem was suspected not to be a fuse issue, as other functions were working fine. A similar past experience suggested that a discharged battery could cause such malfunctions, as low voltage might lead the car's computer to disable non-essential functions. Upon checking, the battery was found to be the problem, and replacing it resolved the seat malfunction and cleared the error codes.

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought of the battery. How exactly did you diagnose that on your BMW? Did you get any other weird errors?

Well, I initially suspected the seat switch or even the seat motor itself. A friend who knows more about car electrics than I do suggested checking the battery first. He said low voltage can cause the computer to act strangely, throwing codes for things that aren't really broken. He used a multimeter to check the voltage, and it was way low. Replacing the battery fixed everything, including the seat. It's always cautious to start with the simple things. Still, I suggest going to the workshop.

Thanks a lot for the tip! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. The battery was indeed the culprit. Replacing it and clearing the error codes sorted everything out. Cost me 290€, but at least the seat works now!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old 2016 BMW 3 Series. The electric seat went kaput, and it turned out to be a discharged battery. The car's computer basically shuts down non-essential functions to save power. Have you checked your battery's voltage lately? A heavily discharged or defective battery can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins. It might be worth checking the seat wiring and connectors too, just in case.
