GrandlandX Massage Seat Dead: Local Expert Help Needed

Hey everyone, having trouble with my 2019 Vauxhall GrandlandX Hybrid (236k km). The massage function in the driver's seat completely stopped working last week. Had some disappointing experiences with mechanics recently, so I'm a bit hesitant about where to take it. Has anyone dealt with a similar massage seat issue? Looking for recommendations on reliable mechanics who know their way around these systems, and maybe a rough idea of repair costs. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2016 Vauxhall Insignia Hybrid (similar electrical system to yours). The seat massage function died completely, and after checking at my regular garage, it turned out to be a loose connection in the main wiring harness under the seat. The vibration from driving had caused the plug to partially disconnect over time. The fix wasn't too complex, they had to remove the seat, reconnect and secure the main control module cables, and test the system. Wasn't a serious mechanical issue, just one of those electrical gremlins that pop up in modern cars. My mechanic mentioned these seat control issues are pretty common in Vauxhalls from that era. If you're near Manchester, I can recommend the certified Vauxhall specialist who fixed mine. They really know their way around the hybrid systems and electrical components.

Thanks for sharing that! I feel better knowing I'm not the only one with these seat gremlins. Good to hear it wasn't anything major in your case. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much they charged you for the fix? Also, has everything been working fine since then, or have you had any other electrical niggles pop up? Just trying to get an idea of what I might be in for. Cheers!

Hey again! Just wanted to follow up, I took your advice and got it checked out. You were spot on about the connection issue! My mechanic found a faulty cable connection/plug under the seat, just like what happened with your Insignia. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted, which seems pretty reasonable considering all the hassle I was having. Since the repair, the massage function has been working perfectly, no more dead seat! *laughs* It's such a relief to have it fixed. Haven't had any other electrical issues pop up either, so fingers crossed it stays that way. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me feel more confident about getting it looked at rather than just living with a non-functioning massage seat. Honestly, these modern car features are great when they work, but they can be proper headaches when they act up, right? At least now we both know what to look for if it happens again!

Brilliant news! So glad it worked out for you and wasn't too expensive either. £95 is definitely better than what I was imagining, was worried it might be some major electrical system issue costing hundreds. Just took mine to the mechanic yesterday actually. Similar story, loose connection under the seat that needed fixing. Mine came to £110 including a general check-up of the electrical systems. The massage function's working perfectly now, and honestly, it's made such a difference on my longer drives again. Really appreciate everyone's help on this. It's funny how these little car issues can stress you out until you find out it's actually a common problem with a straightforward fix. Lesson learned, won't be putting off these kinds of repairs in the future! Take care everyone!
